30-Day Blog Challenge: What I Learned and Challenge Recap!

Phew!!  Am I glad that’s over!!

*That One Mom* 30-Day Blog Challenge: What I Learned, Recap, and $25 Amazon Gift Card Giveaway!

I’m sure you were thinking that I would never make it, because honestly, I was thinking that myself!  I’m glad I finally did it though and to celebrate, I’m giving away a $25 Amazon Gift Card.  But first, I want to do a rundown of what I learned and a recap of the challenge.

This Challenge was originally intended to be a 30-Week Challenge, but I was ever-so-confident that I could do it thirty days.   (I found the original challenge on momgetsreal.com.)  Obviously, I put too much stock in my ability to finish things, but at least I finally did finish it!  Here’s what I learned:

1.  I suck at blog challenges.  At least blog challenges that are on a time frame.  Maybe I just suck at time frames.  Yeah, that has to be it!

2.  Blog challenge posts are just as hard and time-consuming as any other post.  There’s all that writing and editing and finding an image to go with it.  I made most of mine, so it was doubly time-consuming.

3.  Sometimes blog challenges have some really interesting questions and sometimes, they don’t.  I can’t say I loved every question, but it definitely forces you to think about things!

4.  Blog challenges question sometimes become very personal.  Be prepared to decide how deep you are willing to delve and how much of that you want to share.

5.  Blog challenges are worth it in the end.  Even though I couldn’t do it in the time frame I set for myself, I’m still glad that I did it.  I’ve got brain fog about half of the time and these questions gave me something to focus on.  I don’t know that I want to do another one anytime soon, but I don’t regret it and I will definitely do it again…someday.

Comments

  1. blog challenges are tough and I don’t think I could EVER do one like this.

    • This is my first one. I really didn’t know what I was getting into!!! Maybe next time I’ll do a three-day challenge or something. Do they have those??

  2. I love blog prompts like this, do you mind if I borrow this? I rather get stuff done like this in a month than over a few weeks, that seems too long.

  3. I have never done this challenge, I love the idea.

    • It was great for me, because I felt so “stuck.” If you ever have writer’s block or you just feel like you’re in a rut, it’s a great way to jump start that creativity!! You wouldn’t even have to do the whole challenge…just pick a prompt.

  4. Carla D. says:

I’m new to the blogging world so I have not yet done a blogging challenge. I hope to do so soon though.

  5. I love these ideas. I definitely need to do a blog challenge. I’ll have to find one that suits my blog.

    • I recommend a blog challenge…especially if you are stuck like I was!! I think if I do another one, I will choose something a little shorter though!

  6. I have never done that type of blog challenge but I did do the Blogelina commentathon which was some kind of working! It was fun though!

  7. I can’t remember the last time I did an organized blog challenge like this, probably at least 10 years ago! But I did try for posting “Every Day in May” this year – ended up missing a few days, but close!

    • I’m a very last-minute-seat-of-my-pants kind of girl, so I found the challenge, well, challenging!!! I thought it was hard to plan something for every single day (and obviously I couldn’t do it!), so I really admire you for posting every day in May. Even if you missed one or two!!

  8. I’ve never done one before but I should, it sounds fun

    • I’d like to find some shorter ones. Or maybe adapt one. I think there is a reason why the blogger who did it before me did it as a 30 week challenge, instead of a 30 day!!
