We love grapes at our house. Our 14-year-old can put away at least a pound of them all by herself! Although she prefers them plain, there are quite a few salad and dessert recipes that call for grapes. An all-time favorite here is Frozen Dessert Grapes. I’ve also seen them called Sugared Grapes and Frosted Grapes…whatever you call them, they are yummy and oh so easy. And also, I didn’t know it was possible to use the word “grapes” so many times in one paragraph!!
When my mother-in-law retired, we threw a party and needed simple food that tasted great and wouldn’t break the bank. My best friend made these grapes and we have been hooked ever since. They are incredibly simple to make and work for any holiday or celebration…or just when you want a little dessert!
Frozen Dessert Grapes (aka Sugared Grapes)
1 pound of grapes (I use a mix of green and red and you can use more if you have them)
1 package (3 oz) strawberry jello mix
Wash your grapes. Drain the water off, but don’t get them completely dry (this helps the jello stick). Put grapes into a container (preferably with a lid) and pour the dry jello mix on top. Shake (if your container has a lid) or stir to mix. Place in the freezer for a couple of hours. They will need to thaw a little before you serve them. Remaining grapes can be stored in the freezer or the fridge. Just remember if you keep them in the freezer, they will need to thaw for a few minutes before you eat them!!
That’s it. Didn’t I tell you it was easy?!? Just a little note–you can actually use different flavors of jello or even the sugar-free variety. They are still delicious. Now go make some of these and tell me what you think!!
LOVE this and grape salad!
What a coincidence…I have a grape salad recipe coming up soon! Maybe you can try it out!!
