Welcome to the first ever That One Mom Weekly Wrap Up! This is where we catch up on what we’ve all been doing and have a chance to recommend new things! I know, I know…I’ve been horribly absent and inconsistent lately. Trying to get ready for vacation has been time consuming and I’m also having some physical problems that make it hard to sit at the computer and type for long. I’ve lost a lot of my grip strength too, so I’m thinking carpal tunnel, but I don’t know for sure. Now that vacation is over, I’ll be heading to a doctor soon.
There has been some fun stuff going on lately. We just got home from an awesome week in Perdido Key, Florida. This is our third time there and I have to say, it’s one of our favorite beach sites. There wasn’t time for a vacation this summer, so we decided on a week after school started (yes, our daughter missed a week of school–I don’t regret it!) and planned a family vacation. Unfortunately, my middle son’s employer decided the week before that he just couldn’t do without him, so Sunshine Boy didn’t get to go. I’m still a little miffed about that, as he asked off a month in advance. If they had told him no sooner, I might could have rescheduled. Oh well, maybe next year.
Perdido is an awesome place anytime, but it was especially peaceful this past week. There were very few people on the beach and no real waits for us at local restaurants. The National Naval Aviation Museum and the Blue Angels practice were way more crowded than I had imagined, but they still weren’t ridiculous. If you’ve never been, I definitely recommend it. We’ve seen them three times and it never gets old.

I also finished a book while I was whiling away the hours on the beach! Before this past week, I couldn’t tell you the last time I sat down and read any fiction. It was a really good book, but the ending wasn’t what I wanted. I won’t spoil it for you in case you want to check it out…The Buried Giant. (This link is an Amazon Affiliate link. You are under no obligation to click on it or make a purchase, but purchases made through this link help keep That One Mom going!) The Buried Giant is by the same author as The Remains of the Day. I thought it was very well written–I just didn’t get quite what I was hoping for at the end!
I also bought an e-book, but I haven’t read that yet. Mostly, I’m ticked off at myself because I didn’t have my phone locked and I bought it on accident when my phone was bouncing around in my bag!! Watch those apps people!
I tried to send a blog post from my phone, but it wouldn’t work. That’s something I need to work on. I also need to look into a new laptop, a camera bag, and a pop-up canopy. We used our old one, but it bit the dust and we threw it in the dumpster! You would think it would free up more room in the Equinox, but we were crammed just as tight as before. Trips like this make me miss my old minivan!
Most of the week was beautiful weather. We had a lot of rain on the last day and on the trip home, but it was still hot and humid. Yesterday at home, we had rain and 70 degrees. I thought that was an appropriate time to break out the Potato Soup. It has warmed up a lot today, but the soup definitely hit the spot and made me look forward to fall.
Speaking of fall, I will be sharing two round-ups this week–Fall Decor and Halloween Decor Ideas. It’s time to get our decorating on, people!!
That about wraps it up. There is a lot of stuff going on this week, but hopefully I can get back in the full-time blogging routine. It will be my favorite time of year before we know it and I have a lot of great ideas I want to share!!
