The 12 Dates of Christmas

Anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows that it’s easy to let life get in the way and prevent you from just being a couple. While the holiday season is a busy time of year, we still need to try to fit a date night in every now and then. To give you a little boost and a few ideas, I present to you The 12 Dates of Christmas!

On the first date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Christmas Tree Picnic! Pack a picnic and take it to the living room or wherever you put your tree. Spread a blanket on the floor, light a few candles and turn on the Christmas lights. Enjoy a sweet little meal together by the tree. Picnic Food Ideas: Benedictine spread, chicken salad, veggie pizza, assorted fruit, and hot mulled cider.

On the second date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Pajama Day. Start with breakfast in bed. Spend the entire day in pajamas or comfy clothes. Go through old photos or watch home videos while snuggling under your favorite fuzzy blanket and spend some time working on a marriage bucket list for next year.

On the third date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Scavenger Hunt. See the sights and Christmas lights while completing the list. Make sure to pack some hot chocolate and snacks. Take a horse drawn carriage ride if one is available.

On the fourth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Christmas Tree Farm Date. Visit a Christmas tree farm together. Take a stroll through all the trees and take home some fresh greenery even if you don’t need a tree. Make sure to snap a few pics along the way. This is a time to really talk without a bunch of interruptions!

On the fifth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Silly Night In. Fingerpaint pictures of one another, have an indoor snowball fight, make up your own crazy recipes and judge the results, write letters to Santa, and record yourselves singing Christmas carols loudly and off key and send them to your friends/family.

On the sixth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Christmas Cookie Baking Contest. Bake a few different varieties of cookies and deliver to your neighbors, family, friends, or coworkers. Make up a score sheet and ask them to choose the winner. Loser has to cook dinner and wash dishes!

On the seventh date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A School’s Out Kind of Snow Day. Build an igloo. Build a snow family. Make snow angels. Have a snowball fight. Then go inside and drink hot cocoa.

On the eighth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Little Christmas Culture. Attend a concert, play, parade, craft show, or other Christmas themed event. Splurge for dinner out along the way.

On the ninth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Christmas Crafts All Day. Decorate gingerbread houses and make Christmas crafts to decorate with or give away.

On the tenth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Play the Local Tourist. Explore your hometown. Visit the local tourism bureau and find out what you might have missed. Pick up brochures and make plans for next year’s seasonal happenings. Visit something historical. Ask your friends where they like to eat and have a meal at one of those places. Just pretend like your town is somewhere you’ve never been before. And take lots of pictures!

On the eleventh date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Christmas Movie Night. Build a pillow fort, make some indoor s’mores, and watch your favorite Christmas movies.

On the twelfth date of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

A Fondue Date: Enjoy your favorite fondue dishes and end the evening with some games like Uno or Phase 10. Some of my favorite fondue recipes are Melting Pot copycats…Wisconsin Trio and Flaming Turtle Chocolate.

Bonus Date: If time and money permit, take a little trip to the closest mountain town. Rent a cabin, sit by the fireplace, and relax in the hot tub. This would make a great Christmas gift to give one another, even if you have to schedule it for after the holiday season!

Hopefully, these 12 Dates of Christmas will inspire you to spend quality time with your significant other. Or at least plan some dates for later!!
